Funding a translation project
A translation project, of any volume involves the setting up
and planning for a consistent cooperation frame work. This
frame work involves certain translation related targeted
activities. The activities involved in professional
translation, technical or otherwise, include the interpretation
and translation of the subject matter form one language to
another, simultaneously.
The translation could directly relate to the content or the
documents related to public events involving the main work. You
could also take on the effective translation of conference
agendas and commercial and political congresses.
The translation job would also involve documents like
brochures and web site content. Depending on the size of the
project and the approach, the funding involves either private
individuals or funding agencies, dedicated to translation.
Most funding companies though impose a condition that the
translator should be a rank outsider.
Funding a translation project through either
englisch übersetzung or German Translation has to be well within
the incorporated provincial, territorial or federal laws
laid down from time to time. These translation governing
laws usually do not consider individuals eligible for the
funding.
Quite a few are also firm on whether or not they choose to
divulge any resources to certain government organizations,
universities or school boards, hospitals and foreign
organizations. The funding decisions are based on the
criteria used for the evaluation of a particular project. The
funds are almost always based on the funds at hand and the
analysis of applications for the funds.
Most often than not, in the case of a public event, the
funds extended depend on the scope and feasibility of the
translation project that is influenced by the number of
participants, their residence and communication plan and the
media coverage expected for the work in question. The funding
resource also considers the previous amount of financial
assistance already received by the translating
organization.
Within every translation project, the funds need to be
distributed between the publication activities, distribution
plan and reach, the links, if any, between the texts to be
translated and the procured financial assistance.
Before even thinking of ways to get additional financial aid
for a translation project, the organization involved in the
translation has to prove that the documents to be translated
has to have the required permission form the original copyright
holder.
A translation job would involve expenditure on the
simultaneous interpretation or during a public event and the
official cost of translation and revision. This is also
referred to as the translators’ honoraria!
Usually, the funds extended to a translation project do not
exceed 50% of the above mentioned eligible expenses. The party
or organization involved in the attempt to procure the funds
for the translation project can and should consult the
specially designed guide, online and offline.
The requests for funding of translation projects could be
submitted during the fiscal year and it needs to be kept in
mind that the evaluation of the case can run into weeks. The
funding principles take into account the funds that have
already been committed to the project. It has to be seen that
the special ‘applicant’s guide’ form is duly completed and
submitted.
